About
Bánovce Castle was a vanished medieval fortress in Bánovce nad Bebravou, documented in the 15th and 16th centuries and owned by Ladislav Podmanický from 1466.
Bánovce Castle was a medieval fortification historically documented in the 15th and 16th centuries. It stood in the area of present-day Bánovce nad Bebravou, a town located in western Slovakia.
Written sources confirm the castle's existence as early as 1454, and references to it continue throughout the 16th century. In 1466, ownership of the castle passed to the nobleman Ladislav Podmanický, a member of an influential noble family active across the wider region during that period.
Today no visible remains of the castle survive above ground, and it is counted among Slovakia's lost medieval fortifications, known to us solely through archival records.
