Slovakia · Žilinský kraj
About
The ruins of Blatnica Castle are located on the limestone ridge of Plešovica hill, roughly 2 km from the village of Blatnica, on the boundary between Gaderská Valley and the Turčianska Basin.
The ruins of Blatnica Castle stand atop a low limestone ridge of Plešovica hill, which naturally separates Gaderská Valley from the Turčianska Basin. This striking position places the castle approximately two kilometres from the village of Blatnica, in a landscape where mountain terrain gradually merges with the fertile lowland basin.
The ruins offer visitors not only a fascinating glimpse into medieval fortification architecture, but also impressive views of the surrounding countryside. The area around the castle forms part of a highly attractive tourist region, rich in natural beauty and well-marked hiking trails.
