About
Branč Castle is a partially restored ruin perched on a rocky ridge of the Myjava Hills above the village of Podbranč in the Senica district.
Branč Castle rises on a rocky ridge of the Myjava Hills, directly above the small village of Podbranč and its local district of Podzámok in the Senica region. Its ruins are one of the distinctive landmarks of this gently rolling landscape west of Myjava, drawing visitors interested in the medieval history of western Slovakia.
The surviving walls and remnants of the castle's architecture were subject to heritage restoration work in the past; however, this intervention has not been viewed favourably by experts, as the modifications are widely considered insufficiently sensitive to the original fabric of the structure. Despite this, the ruin still offers an interesting glimpse into medieval fortification construction in the region.
The surroundings of Branč Castle also provide attractive views across the Myjava Hills landscape, making a visit rewarding not only for history enthusiasts but also for nature lovers and hikers. The site is accessible on foot from the village of Podbranč and is a popular destination for families and individual tourists alike.
