About
Dračí hrádok is a medieval castle ruin perched on a rocky spur above the Červený potok valley, approximately 2 km east of the village of Borinka.
Dračí hrádok stands at the tip of a narrow rocky spur that descends gradually into the valley of Červený potok. This secluded location, roughly two kilometres east of the village of Borinka, once provided the fortress with natural defences on virtually every side.
Only modest ruins survive today, yet even in this state the site has a captivating quality. The elongated ridge on which the castle rests offers pleasant views over the surrounding wooded valley, and the whole place is imbued with a quiet, almost mysterious atmosphere.
The site makes a rewarding destination for hikers exploring the Little Carpathians region. The approach trail winds through attractive woodland, and the remaining fragments of fortification serve as a vivid reminder of the rich medieval history of this corner of Slovakia.
