About
Drienok is a medieval castle ruin on the southern slope of Rúbaň hill near the village of Rybník in the Revúca district, with only its foundations remaining.
On the southern slope of Rúbaň hill, at an elevation of 479 metres above sea level, lie the modest remnants of Drienok Castle. This medieval stronghold stands above the stream that shares its name and belongs to the cadastral territory of the village of Rybník in the Revúca district. Of the once-standing fortress, only barely recognisable foundation traces have survived to the present day.
The castle was built during the 13th century and had already fallen into abandonment and ruin before the close of the 15th century. Visitors can reach the site from the village of Rybník by following a paved road towards Španie Pole, after which the route continues along a forest track up a gentle slope to the ruins themselves.
