About
The Brunswick Castle in Dolná Krupá is a late 18th-century Classicist château surrounded by a vast English landscape park.
The château in Dolná Krupá, also known as the Brunswick Castle, is a remarkable Classicist building situated in the village of the same name, approximately ten kilometres north of Trnava. It was constructed between 1793 and 1795 on the site of an older residence that most likely dated from the first half of the 18th century. The building was designed by the Viennese architect Hausmann for the noble Brunswick family.
In 1820, the château underwent a partial renovation during which architect A. P. Rigel enriched its appearance with Classical architectural elements. An inseparable part of the entire estate is the extensive English landscape park, which was laid out in the first third of the 19th century by the Belgian landscape architect H. Nebbien. This expansive green area lends the château a romantic character and contributes greatly to its overall atmosphere.
