About

The Baroque manor house in Veľké Leváre, featuring a park with an 18th-century chapel and mill, stands in disrepair today but gained fame as a filming location for the Slovak TV series Rex.

The Baroque manor house in Veľké Leváre stands in the southern part of this village, which belongs to the Malacky district. The estate is complemented by a spacious park containing a Baroque chapel and a mill dating back to the 18th century.

Throughout the 20th century, the manor underwent several rounds of renovation. During the socialist era it served as a treatment facility for people struggling with addiction. After the institution was closed down, the building was left without any use and gradually fell into disrepair — a state that unfortunately persists to this day.

Despite its neglected condition, the manor attracted the attention of filmmakers. In 2017 it served as a filming location for several scenes of the Slovak adaptation of the popular television series Rex, which TV Markíza broadcast in September of that year.
