About

The Baroque-Classicist manor in Zlaté Moravce, rebuilt by Cardinal Migazzi in 1789, now houses the Municipal Cultural Centre and a branch of the Ponitrie Museum.

The manor house in Zlaté Moravce is a single-storey building that combines Baroque and Classicist architectural elements. It features two wings facing a surrounding park, of which only a smaller portion has survived to the present day. A prominent historical mark on the façade is the coat of arms of the Vienna cardinal Christoph Bartholomäus Anton Migazzi, who commissioned the reconstruction of the manor in 1789. The western wing, with its bricked-up arcades, is considered the older part of the complex and is believed to date back to the second half of the 17th century.

The manor's courtyard is home to a striking monument to the Slovak poet Janko Kráľ, carved from white Bulgarian marble by academic sculptor Ján Kulich. The building currently serves as the Municipal Cultural Centre. On the ground floor of the right wing, the Ponitrie Museum based in Nitra operates a branch here under the name of the City Museum. The municipal library, which also formed part of the cultural centre, has been temporarily relocated to the Robotnícka Primary School due to structural concerns about the building.
