About

Švecburg, located near the village of Kváskovice in the Strakonice district, is recognised as the youngest and smallest castle in the Czech Republic, built in 2007 by Jan Švec using stones gathered from local fields.

Švecburg is a remarkable little fortress tucked away in the picturesque countryside near the village of Kváskovice in the Strakonice district. It holds the distinctive title of the youngest and smallest castle in the Czech Republic, making it a genuine curiosity among the country's rich collection of historic strongholds.

The castle was founded in 2007 by Jan Švec, who together with a small group of enthusiastic locals from the surrounding area embarked on an ambitious building project. Rather than sourcing conventional materials, the builders gathered stones directly from the neighbouring fields, giving the structure a natural character that blends harmoniously with the surrounding landscape.

Despite its modest proportions, Švecburg boasts all the essential features one would expect of a proper castle – two habitable rooms and a tower that crowns the entire structure. This modern-day fortress stands as a testament to the fact that passion and determination can still give rise to something truly extraordinary.
