Čierny hrad

About

Čierny hrad is a small castle ruin situated on a wooded spur of the Tríbeč range, approximately 2 km northeast of the village of Zlatno.

Čierny hrad (Black Castle) stands on a wooded spur of the Tríbeč mountain range, roughly two kilometres northeast of the village of Zlatno, near Zlaté Moravce. Its elevated rocky ridge once offered commanding views of the surrounding landscape and allowed control over important routes passing through the region.

Only modest remnants of the original castle walls survive today, almost entirely swallowed by dense forest. Despite this, the site retains a romantic atmosphere and continues to attract hikers and enthusiasts of medieval heritage who enjoy combining history with a pleasant woodland walk.
