About
Džigerdelen Parkan was a now-vanished 16th-century fortress near Štúrovo, whose former site is today occupied by a Roman Catholic church.
Džigerdelen Parkan was a fortified structure that once stood near the present-day town of Štúrovo, located in the Nové Zámky district. Its origins are traced to around 1546, when the need arose to defend a strategically important area during the turbulent era of Ottoman expansion.
The fortress did not endure for long. It was destroyed during the course of the 17th century and gradually disappeared from the landscape. Today, no visible remains survive — the site where it once stood is now occupied by a Roman Catholic church, which continues to stand there to this day.
