About
Glanzenberg is a ruined castle near Banská Štiavnica, its remains perched on a ridge approximately one kilometre north of the town centre.
Glanzenberg is a ruined castle complex spread across a narrow, elongated ridge roughly one kilometre north of the historic centre of Banská Štiavnica. In its heyday, it formed an extensive fortified ensemble of structures that dominated the surrounding landscape and served as a guardian of this important mining town.
Today, only remnants of walls and foundations survive, bearing witness to the original scale and significance of the site. Despite its ruined state, the location rewards visitors with sweeping views over Banská Štiavnica and the surrounding countryside, and the walk up to the ruins itself makes for a pleasant outing in nature.
