About
Maginhrad is a hill in the Revúca Highlands north of Rimavská Sobota, on whose plateau a medieval castle of the same name once stood.
Maginhrad is a castle hill located north of Rimavská Sobota, within the mountainous area known as the Revúca Highlands. On its broad summit plateau once stood a medieval castle that shared its name with the hill itself. This elevated position gave the fortress a commanding view of the surrounding landscape and allowed control over important routes through the region.
Today only modest traces of the castle remain, yet the site retains a distinctive atmosphere that continues to attract those interested in the history of medieval fortifications in southern Slovakia. The summit plateau also offers fine views of the surrounding countryside, a reminder of why the castle's builders chose this particular location.
