About
The restored Vígľaš Castle stands on a spur of the Javorie hills beside the Slatina river, close to the town of Zvolen.
Vígľaš Castle rises on a gentle, flat spur of the Javorie hills, along which the Slatina river meanders. This imposing structure is located in the village of the same name near Zvolen and ranks among the most prominent Renaissance-Baroque landmarks of central Slovakia.
The original Gothic fortress was rebuilt several times over the centuries, eventually taking on its current expansive castle form. Vígľaš was a favoured residence of Hungarian nobility, and its history is closely tied to important aristocratic families who shaped the story of this region.
Following extensive restoration works, the castle once again opened its doors to visitors and today functions as a prestigious hotel and cultural centre. The picturesque surroundings, the tranquil nature of the Javorie hills, and the site's rich history together create an unforgettable experience for all lovers of historical monuments.
