About
A Renaissance two-storey manor house built in the first half of the 17th century stands on a hill where a Gothic castle had previously existed since the early 14th century.
The manor house in Ožďany stands on a gentle rise above the village of the same name, with a history that stretches deep into the Middle Ages. Historians believe that a Gothic castle already occupied this site as early as the beginning of the 14th century.
During the first half of the 17th century, the older structure was replaced by a new, two-storey manor house built in the Renaissance style. This reconstruction gave the residence the appearance it has largely retained to this day. The manor thus represents a remarkable example of continuous noble settlement on a single site spanning several centuries.
