Zrúcanina Peťuša

Slovakia · Banskobystrický kraj

About

Peťuša is a castle ruin perched on a hill above the left bank of the Hron River near the village of Ostrá Lúka, approximately 5 km from Zvolen.

Peťuša Castle stands on a small hill above the left bank of the Hron River, at the boundary between the Pliešovce Basin and the northwestern tip of the Javorie mountain range. It lies approximately five kilometres from Zvolen and falls within the cadastral territory of the village of Ostrá Lúka.

Only modest remnants of the perimeter walls have survived to the present day. Despite the fragmentary state of the ruins, the site remains an attractive destination for history enthusiasts and visitors interested in medieval fortifications in the wider Zvolen region.

The surrounding landscape offers pleasant views across the Hron valley and the neighbouring hills of Javorie, making this spot a rewarding stop along a hiking trail through this part of central Slovakia.
