About
Považský Castle is a picturesque ruin perched on a limestone rock above the Váh River, situated approximately three kilometres north of Považská Bystrica.
Považský Castle rises atop a rocky limestone spur at the foothills of the Javorníky Mountains, commanding sweeping views over the Váh River far below. These impressive ruins are located in the district of Považské Podhradie, approximately three kilometres north of the centre of Považská Bystrica.
The castle was built in a strategically exceptional position that allowed its lords to control the important trade route running along the Váh valley. Today its remains attract visitors not only with their rich history but also with breathtaking panoramas of the surrounding landscape.
