About
The picturesque Baroque ruins of a monastic complex at the foot of Zobor Hill above Nitra.
Zobor Monastery is one of the oldest monastic sites in Slovakia, with roots stretching back to the early Middle Ages, when the first monastic settlement was established at the foot of Zobor Hill. Over the centuries the complex underwent several phases of reconstruction and expansion, ultimately taking on the Baroque architectural character that still defines its striking ruins today. Perched above the city of Nitra, the remains of this once-thriving monastery offer visitors a captivating glimpse into the region's rich ecclesiastical heritage.
