About

The Betlanovce manor house is the oldest Renaissance château in the Spiš region, built without any fortifications and located in the very centre of the village on the western edge of the Hornád Basin.

In the heart of the village of Betlanovce, on the western edge of the Hornád Basin, stands a manor house that ranks among the most significant Renaissance buildings in the entire Spiš region. Its exceptional character lies above all in the fact that it was conceived from the outset as a purely residential structure — free of any fortification elements — which sets it apart from the majority of noble residences of its era.

The Betlanovce manor is the oldest Renaissance château in Spiš and to this day retains the character of a serene aristocratic seat situated directly in the village centre. Its architectural purity and the complete absence of defensive features reflect a period of relative peace and the self-confidence of the nobility, who chose comfort and prestige over the need for protection.
