About
The Renaissance manor house in Chalmová near Bystričany was built on the foundations of a medieval fortress in the Upper Nitra Basin.
The manor house in Chalmová, a local part of the municipality of Bystričany, stands in the heart of the Upper Nitra Basin. This impressive building is Renaissance in character, yet its roots stretch deep into the past — it was constructed on the foundations of a much older fortress that once gave this place significant strategic importance.
The location of the manor in the central part of the basin is no coincidence. Surrounded by the nature of central Slovakia, the building has preserved an atmosphere reminiscent of historic noble residences. The Renaissance reconstruction gave the structure a distinctive architectural expression that remains legible to this day in its façade and overall layout.
