About
The ruins of Lipovce Castle are perched on a limestone ridge called Zámčisko above the canyon of the Lačnovský stream, about 1.5 kilometres northwest of the village of Lipovce.
The castle of Lipovce once stood on a prominent limestone ridge known as Zámčisko, rising above the deep canyon of the Lačnovský stream. The site lies approximately 1.5 kilometres to the west of the village of Lipovce, from which the castle takes its name.
Only modest ruins of the former stronghold survive today, yet the location on the rocky outcrop to the northwest of the village remains truly remarkable. Visitors who make the journey here are rewarded not only with a glimpse of the historical remains, but also with the dramatic natural scenery of the surrounding canyon.
