About
Šebeš is a ruined manorial castle perched on an andesite hill of the Slanské vrchy range above the village of Podhradík near Prešov.
On an andesite hill at the northwestern edge of the Slanské vrchy mountain range, near the village of Podhradík close to Prešov, stand the modest ruins of the former manorial castle of Šebeš. This small noble stronghold once guarded the surrounding territory from its dominant position above the village, and its history is closely tied to the development of this corner of eastern Slovakia.
Today, visitors will find only ruins on the site, yet despite their limited extent, they offer an interesting glimpse into medieval fortification architecture in the region. The hill's andesite bedrock provided natural protection and a strategic advantage, making this location ideal for the construction of a manorial administrative castle.
