About

Markušovce Castle is a relatively well-preserved medieval ruin located directly within the village of Markušovce, adjacent to the local church.

Markušovce Castle is one of the remarkable castle ruins of the Hornád Basin. It rises on a gentle hill right within the built-up area of the village of Markušovce, in close proximity to the local church. This location sets it apart from most medieval castles, which tend to be hidden deep in forests or perched on hard-to-reach rocky cliffs.

Despite centuries of neglect, the castle has retained a relatively good structural condition, making it an interesting destination for lovers of history and romantic architecture. Visitors can explore the preserved walls and take in the surrounding landscape of the Hornád Basin. The combination of the castle and the church within a single setting creates a unique atmosphere that further enhances the historical character of the entire site.
