About
Medzianky Castle perches on a rocky spur approximately one kilometre northeast of the village of Medzianky.
Medzianky Castle stands on a prominent rocky spur rising above the surrounding landscape, located to the northeast of the village that shares its name. This elevated position offered its inhabitants natural protection and an excellent vantage point over the region.
The ruin, also known locally as Zámek, lies approximately one kilometre from the village. The rocky base on which the castle rests has always formed its strongest line of defence. The site is thus a fine example of medieval fortification that made full use of the advantages offered by rugged terrain.
Today the location attracts both history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. The area around the castle offers pleasant views across the foothills and a tranquil atmosphere that makes it an ideal destination for easy excursions from nearby villages.
