About
Obišovský Castle is a medieval ruin nestled in the Čierna hora mountain range north of the village of Obišovce, at a site known as Zámčisko.
The ruins of Obišovský Castle rise above the village of Obišovce, positioned to the north on a rocky hill known locally as Zámčisko. This elevated spot belongs to the Čierna hora mountain range and is also referred to as Stráža — a name that hints at its historical function as a watchtower and lookout point guarding the surrounding region.
Although only remnants of the original structure survive today, they still speak to the former significance of this site. The castle's commanding position once offered sweeping views across the landscape, making it a strategically valuable stronghold during the medieval period. Visitors who make the journey up the hill are rewarded not only with a sense of history but also with beautiful panoramas of the surrounding hills and villages.
