About
The Renaissance fortified manor house in Spišský Štiavnik was built on the site of a medieval monastery, near the upper Hornád River on the edge of the Slovak Paradise.
Spišský Štiavnik is a picturesque village situated on the upper course of the Hornád River, in the northwestern part of the Slovak Paradise region. The area has a deeply rooted history stretching back to the Middle Ages, when an extensive monastic complex once stood here.
On the foundations of this original monastery, an impressive Renaissance manor house with robust fortifications was later erected. The building reflects the architectural trends of its era and testifies to the considerable status of its former owners. The combination of medieval origins and Renaissance reconstruction makes this structure a truly unique landmark within the wider Spiš region.
