About
Tibava is the ruin of a medieval castle perched on a limestone crag above the village of Podhoroď, approximately 15 km north-east of Sobrance.
Tibava is a ruined medieval castle, the modest remains of which stand atop a limestone rocky hill rising above the northern edge of the village of Podhoroď. Its elevated position once offered commanding views of the surrounding landscape and allowed control over nearby roads and the valley below.
The castle is situated approximately 15 kilometres north-east of the town of Sobrance. Today only scattered wall fragments survive, slowly weathering away, yet they still make a worthwhile destination for enthusiasts of medieval history and romantic ruins.
