About
In Hatné in the Mariková Valley, faint remains of a medieval castle with a double cross survive on a limestone rocky outcrop.
In the village of Hatné, in the lower part of the Mariková Valley, a limestone rocky outcrop rises above the right bank of the Mariková stream. Hidden within its gullies lie barely visible remains of a medieval small castle. The locality has long been known among locals as Hrádok, a name that directly recalls the fortification that once stood here.
Only modest fragments of masonry have survived, now largely concealed by rocks and dense vegetation. A double cross erected on the summit of the crag serves today as a prominent landmark and lends the site a spiritual character. Although the castle counts among the lesser-known historical monuments of the region, it makes for an intriguing destination for visitors with an interest in history and nature.
